About DIVR

Dive. Log. Share.

Reimagining how recreational divers document and share their underwater experiences while contributing to marine conservation.

Our Mission

We're building a vertical social network that combines the best of dive logging, social sharing, and citizen science. Our platform makes it effortless for divers to log their adventures in under 30 seconds, share photos and conditions with their community, and automatically contribute valuable data to marine research organizations.

The Problem We're Solving

Traditional dive logging is fragmented and outdated. Paper logbooks get lost, brand-specific apps lack social features, and dive site information is scattered across forums and Facebook groups. Meanwhile, marine biologists struggle with expensive, sparse observational data, but millions of recreational divers are already exploring these ecosystems.

What Makes DIVR Different

Lightning-fast logging

Document a dive in under 30 seconds with GPS, depth, conditions, and photos

Social discovery

Follow dive buddies, explore site-specific feeds, and discover new dive spots through your community

Effortless science

Optional, gamified data tags (coral health, species sightings, visibility) that contribute to ocean research without feeling like homework

Our Vision

We're creating a future where every recreational dive contributes to understanding and protecting our oceans. By making dive logging delightful and social-first, we're building the world's largest community-generated database of marine observations – turning millions of recreational divers into citizen scientists.

Because every dive has a story, and every observation matters.

Meet the Founder

Joep Weterman

Master's Student in Econometrics • Scuba Instructor • Ocean Enthusiast

I'm Joep Weterman, a Master's student in Econometrics, scuba instructor, all-round ocean enthusiast, and the founder of DIVR. My connection to the ocean started when I was very young, and it has shaped nearly every chapter of my life since.

While completing my studies, I worked in Thailand and the Philippines as a divemaster and instructor. These experiences deepened my appreciation for the underwater world and the countless forms of life it holds.

DIVR was born from a simple observation: divers are passionate about their experiences, but the tools to document and share them are scattered, outdated, or simply not social enough. At the same time, marine scientists desperately need more data about ocean health, and recreational divers are perfectly positioned to provide it.

By building DIVR, I want to bridge that gap. I'm creating a platform where divers can effortlessly log their adventures, connect with their community, and contribute to the protection of the oceans we all love.
